FHCS builds a new production facility for cleaning cloths in Obernburg in Germany
Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions is expanding production capacity in Obernburg. In doing so, the company is meeting rising demand for cleaning cloths under the Vileda and Vileda Professional brands and strengthening its capacity for innovation.
11/02/2026, Weinheim – With the official groundbreaking ceremony, Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions (FHCS) and the operating company Mainsite GmbH & Co. KG are commencing construction of a new production facility. The new facility is being built on the site of the Industrie Center Obernburg (ICO) and will specialize in the finishing of cleaning cloths using innovative coating technology.
For FHCS, the project represents a significant milestone in the further development of its global business: with this new site, the company is responding to the growing global demand for particularly high-performance and effective cleaning cloths featuring a so-called polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coating. The technology, developed and patented by Freudenberg, has established itself worldwide as a high-performance cleaning solution for both domestic and professional users and is characterized by its particularly high performance and durability. The investment significantly expands global production capacity and strengthens FHCS’s ability to serve customers worldwide even more effectively. At the same time, it creates additional opportunities for research, development and innovation.
The decision to choose the ICO was a deliberate one. The ICO is a long-established industrial site for chemical production in Germany. The site offers excellent infrastructure, including a reliable energy supply and modern systems for environmentally sound wastewater treatment, which create optimal conditions for industrial manufacturing processes. The plant will create over 20 jobs in the region.
The new plant is scheduled to come on stream at the end of 2027. Regular production is set to begin in the first quarter of 2028.
Karin Overbeck, CEO of FHCS:
“With this investment in Obernburg, we have deliberately chosen a location in Germany. The industrial park’s established infrastructure offers us excellent conditions for setting up the new plant and enables us to create additional capacity where we need it for our future growth.”
Alexander Thoma, CTO of FHCS:
“The new production facility is far more than just a capacity expansion. It opens up additional scope for product development, process optimizationand technological innovation. In this way, we are laying the foundations to continue supporting our customers with high-performance and distinctive cleaning solutions in the future".
